Happy Tails keeps the Humane Society in business

WHITE MOUNTAINS - The Humane Society of the White Mountains is preparing for its major fundraiser of the year. And they get some power star behind it.

Actor David Spade, who is currently starring in the CBS sitcom "Rules of Engagement," was operated as a major sponsor for the sixth annual auction and Happy Tails BBQ. Happy Tails will be held August 27 at the Orchard at Charlie Clark 11:00 to 4:00 p.m. All proceeds from the event go to the Humane Society of the White Mountains.

Humane Society of the White Mountains Affairs Director Deena Pace said Happy Tails raised over $ 40,000 last year, and they hope to exceed that mark this year.

"This is our big fundraiser to help us keep it through the winter," she said.

Pace said Spade came on board as his mother, Judy Todd, is their board of directors. She said it contributes to the Humane Society of the White Mountains regularly.

Another sponsor of the event is Frank M.Smith and Associates Realty Pinetop, and gave an optical packet that will be drawn. Pace said the package includes a scope, binoculars and a tripod and is valued at $ 1,500. Tickets for this draw to the event are sold at high 5 design, the Humane Society and the Dog House Thrift Shop for $ 10 each.

Speaking of High 5 Design, owners Mark and Michelle Sterling Carter is chair of this year's Happy Tails.Carter says they have presided over the event several times, including the first time he was called Happy Tails and moved to the orchard, and were involved in five of six years of its existence.
